After 18 years in oncological research, she understood that health depends not only on the physical body, but on how we emotionally process our lived experience. She accompanies reconnection with the body through somatic work, voice and presence — for people who feel they understand what is happening, but something refuses to shift.

From laboratory to body: what science couldn't answer

Irene's philosophy · Atma & Dharma

After 18 years in oncological research, I understood that health does not depend solely on the physical body, but also on how we emotionally process our lived experience.

My work centres on helping people step out of the mental loop and develop a more conscious relationship with the body, emotions and the nervous system.

Through somatic meditation, deep listening, somatic work and the use of voice and music, I guide people through emotional regulation and inner integration with an approach that combines scientific rigour and human sensitivity.

When understanding was no longer enough

For 18 years I worked in oncological research — an experience that gave me a deep understanding of the complexity of the human body and the rigour required by any process related to health.

Over time, an essential question appeared on my path:

What happens when the body carries, for years, emotions, stress or experiences that were never truly processed?

Many people are caught in an overly mental relationship with themselves. They constantly analyse what they feel, yet continue experiencing anxiety, disconnection, exhaustion or emotional blocking.

My work is about guiding people out of that mental loop and back into more direct contact with the body, where emotional regulation and presence can develop in a genuine and lasting way. As a kinesiologist, somatic meditation teacher and coach, I integrate tools oriented toward developing body awareness, inner security and the capacity to hold emotional experience without suppressing or avoiding it.

Voice and sound as spaces of opening

Voice and music form an essential part of my work. Sound can open inner spaces that often rarely reached through rational analysis alone. Through presence, listening and vibration, I create space for people to relax, feel held, and reconnect with parts of themselves that had gone unheard.

My approach

I believe deep wellbeing does not come from controlling what we feel, but from learning to listen to the body with more presence, awareness and honesty — from mental noise back to the body.

My work brings together science, somatic listening and the voice as an entry point, helping people recover a more authentic relationship with their body and their emotions.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

What is somatic meditation?

Unlike cognitive meditation, somatic meditation focuses attention on bodily sensations and acts directly on the autonomic nervous system. It increases interoception and allowing emotion to be processed in the body, not only in the mind.

What is nervous system regulation?

Nervous system regulation is the body's ability to move out of states of hyperactivation (anxiety, hypervigilance, chronic stress) or shutdown (apathy, disconnection, exhaustion) and return to a state of functional balance. The autonomic nervous system — particularly the vagus nerve — one of the main drivers of this response. Its tone can be modulated through somatic meditation, somatic work, breathwork and the conscious use of voice and sound.

What is kinesiology?

Kinesiology is a discipline that works with the body and movement to identify and release physical and emotional tension. In Irene's context, it is integrated with meditation and somatic work to accompany processes of emotional regulation.

How does voice help in emotional work?

Sound and voice can open inner spaces rarely reached through rational analysis alone. Through resonance and listening, the nervous system can relax its defences and enter states of greater openness and emotional processing.

Does this replace psychotherapy?

No. Irene's work is educational and experiential. It complements therapeutic processes but does not replace them.

How does Irene Sales Pardo work?

Irene's work integrates somatic meditation, nervous system regulation, kinesiology, somatic work and voice and music. Each session or process allows emotion to be processed in the body — not merely understood by the mind.
